As best as I can tell, Target is a good company run by intelligent people. That’s why I was a bit surprised to see that when I visited my local Target it was in the midst or refurbishing for the inclusion of fresh foods.
I’m sure that in some areas Target’s selling of fresh foods meets a demographic need. That is not the case in my and surrounding towns. Never mind that there are at least three full-service supermarkets consumers can shop for fresh food – there is a Wegmans in the very same shopping center.
I don’t claim to be a marketing whiz, but it seems to me that there is a time and place to pick your battles. In talking to friends and family regarding Targets expansion, I think this time discretion would have been the better part of valor.
Or course I could be completely wrong as well – only time will tell.
