Flowering in the desert

Saint Joseph University’s Haub School of Business has partnered with UpLift Solutions, the Westville, N.J.-based non-profit founded by Jeffrey Brown of Brown’s Super Stores, in an effort to obliterate food deserts.

A comprehensive two-day workshop is being held at St. Joseph’s Philadelphia campus on July 20-21 to assist retailers who are
interested in learning more about developing, building and operating stores in areas deprived of full service supermarket offerings.

Topics covered during the seminar include consumer trends; fostering community relations; site location issues and opportunities; marketing strategy, process and tactics; public and private sector experts panel; public policy<\#209>strategic observations, the food desert customer and understanding food deserts. In addition, a tour of Brown’s ShopRite, a successful Philadelphia food desert supermarket model, will be included.

The cost of the conference is $795 per person, with a 10% discount for two or more registrations from the same group.
