Tops Friendly Markets, a full-service grocery retailer in upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania, announced that the company has entered into a purchase agreement with Furnal’s Fresh Market and upon closing will assume operation of the grocery store, located at 98 South Avenue in Hilton, NY.
“Furnal’s Fresh Market has served the Hilton community for many years and we plan to continue the tradition of providing shoppers with an exceptional shopping experience,” said Frank Curci, Tops Markets president and CEO. “Customers will see increased variety, and exceptional value and savings in an overall upgraded store setting.”
The closing is expected to take place in the next 30 days. In the coming months, Tops will invest in a major renovation including new interior and exterior signage, a new storefront and updated décor.
“I’d like to thank the Hilton community and my associates for 41 years of support, commitment and service,” said Rick Furnal, owner of Furnal’s Fresh Market. “I am confident that Tops will be a good neighbor and will continue to serve the needs of this community for many years to come.”
There are approximately 32 full-time and 50 part-time employees at the Hilton location, all of whom have the option of applying for continued employment with Tops Markets.
The purchase is subject to customary closing conditions. Specific terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
