There is a new sausage in town. Gold’n Plump has launched its first line of chicken sausages, brats and breakfast links. There are four varieties available: Parmesan Italian Dinner Sausage, Hot Italian Dinner Sausage, Chicken Bratwurst and Apple Maple Breakfast Links; all containing 50 percent less fat than most pork varieties and often less sodium than other chicken sausages, say officials.
“Gold’n Plump consumers told us they’re looking for healthier alternatives to pork brats and sausages,” says Sara Danforth, new product development manager for the St. Cloud, Minn.-based company. “The Gold’n Plump chicken sausage line is made from premium quality, boneless, skinless thigh meat and is comprised of flavor varieties that consumers are looking for in brats and sausages. Chicken is a natural fit, because it has a neutral flavor base that easily absorbs seasonings.”
With a suggested retail price ranging form $4.99 to $5.99, the new products are available nationwide, along with marketing support, such as point-of-sale materials, select advertising, in-store demos and price promotion opportunities.
