This past fall, Stop & Shop (New England and New York Metro), Giant Food, GIANT Food Stores and MARTIN’s Food Markets, divisions of Ahold USA, partnered with produce companies to participate in Produce for Kids’ Eat Smart for a Great Start campaign raising $39,774. During the campaign, the grocery stores and Produce for Kids educated families about creating simple, healthy meals at home and raised money to support continued healthy lifestyle and nutrition based programming at PBS KIDS.
When shoppers purchased sponsored fruits and vegetables a donation was made to support PBS KIDS programming, which provides educational content, resources and outreach materials for families and educators to promote healthy lifestyles through healthy eating. Together, Produce for Kids, Stop & Shop, GIANT Food Stores, MARTIN’S Food Markets and participating produce company sponsors raised over $39,000 for educational programming at PBS KIDS.
“By working with Produce for Kids, and helping support PBS KIDS’ healthy eating programming, Ahold USA’s retail divisions are able to contribute to the continued healthy eating education of parents and children,” said Steve Mayer, Senior Vice President of Fresh, Ahold USA.
Stop & Shop, Giant Food, GIANT Food Stores and MARTIN’s Food Markets will be participating in the upcoming Produce for Kids Get Healthy, Give Hope campaign taking place May 4 to May 31 to raise funds for local children’s charities.
