In preparation for the Cinco de Mayo holiday, the Beef Checkoff Program and La Tortilla Factory are introducing its first-ever “Cinco de Savings” promotion to resonate with price- and nutritious-conscious shoppers.
From April 1 through May 6, nearly 5,000 retailers nationwide will offer shoppers instant savings on beef purchases and meal solutions using La Tortilla Factory hand-made style corn and flour tortillas. In promotional displays throughout the meat case, shoppers can receive tear-pad coupons that grant $1.00 off fresh beef, with the purchase of two packs of La Tortilla Factory Hand-Made Style tortillas.
Research shows a growing need for cooking instruction and ideas, so the point-of-sale materials feature a healthy grilled steak taco recipe, Mini Steak Tacos with Spicy Pico de Gallo, an under-300 calorie meal that consumers can prepare at home in just 30 minutes. This triple-tested recipe was developed by the leading culinary experts and can be found online at BeefRetail.org.
“This promotion is another example of how the Beef Checkoff helps retailers stimulate beef sales while also satisfying consumer’s desire for beef,” says Penny Nau, senior director of promotions for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, contractor for the Beef Checkoff Program. “We designed the promotion to address the current buying behaviors and preferences of shoppers by offering them the value and beef recipe ideas we know they’re looking for when shopping.”
Stacey Payne, director of marketing for La Tortilla Factory, says, “We are so pleased to be partnering with the Beef Checkoff. The health attributes and taste of beef is so very compatible with the nutritional virtues and amazing flavors of our product line.”
