Weis Markets announced the launch of its fifth annual Paws for Pets program that collects monetary donations, pet food and supplies for local animal shelters and rescue organizations throughout the month of May.
“When we began this program four years ago, we were hopeful Weis customers would help support this initiative. And, every year we are in awe of the outpouring and big response this program receives,” said Dennis Curtin, director of public relations. “Unfortunately, there are too many abandoned and abused animals and the wonderful shelters that take them in need our support. We’re happy to do what we can and we appreciate our customers generosity.”
Weis shoppers may contribute to Paws For Pets by purchasing items on shelter’s wish lists, such as dog, cat, puppy and kitten food, kitty litter, collars, harnesses and leashes, toys, treats, pet shampoos, nail clippers, pet brushes, combs, food and water bowls, dishwashing liquid, bleach, mops and brooms, towels/washcloths and powder-free latex gloves. After customers purchase the items they would like to donate, they can simply place them in a specially marked collection cart near checkout.
In addition to supply donations, customers are able to make monetary contributions with the purchase of vouchers for $1, $3 or $5, or Paws for Pets bracelets for $1. All proceeds donated will go to local shelters.
