Price Chopper and the United State Postal Service partnered in the annual “Stamp Out Hunger” campaign, providing and collecting bags of food for those in need.
Collection bags were distributed to more than two million homes, resulting in the collection of 478,000+ pounds of food. The non-perishable items will be donated to local food pantries to help families in need.
“It is a very heartwarming experience to see our customers come together to help so many families in our community,” said Mona Golub, vice president of public relations and consumer services. “Every family deserves to have a healthy, nutritious meal at their table, even if they need a little help from their neighbors.”
The “Stamp Out Hunger” campaign is one of the nation’s largest single-day food drive, helping to fight hunger in the United States. Sponsored by The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), mail carriers spend the second Saturday in May delivering mail and collecting food for local food pantries. The food drive is held in all 50 states and has resulted in more than one billion pounds of food donations to local communities.
