Galaxy Nutritional Foods, a leading provider of cheese free products for 30 years, announced the launch of GO Veggie!, a new brand of products that aims to serve the millions of Americans seeking dairy and lactose free foods. More than one third of all people worldwide are lactose intolerant, and millions of Americans are choosing to reduce their dairy, go dairy-free or go vegan in hopes of establishing a healthier and/or more principled lifestyle, officials for the company say.

Uniting five Galaxy Nutritional Foods brands into one, GO Veggie! offers improved product flavors and packaging for consumers to easily identify the cheesy choice that is right for them, company officials say. GO Veggie! offers three product lines, strategically color-coded and designed to display product benefits and differentiators. The product lines include GO Veggie! Lactose Free (green packaging), GO Veggie! Dairy Free, Vegan (purple packaging) and GO Veggie! Lactose Free & Soy Free (blue packaging).
Digesting the Data
Lactose is a milk sugar and requires the enzyme lactase for digestion, which decreases with age. Globally, 33% of people are lactose intolerant—40 million of which are Americans—and only 40% of people maintain the ability to digest lactose after childhood. A milk allergy, on the other hand, involves an immune response to casein and/or whey, which are milk proteins and common allergen triggers, especially in children. Many dairy products also contain high levels of cholesterol, which can negatively impact heart health.

Lactose Free is for individuals who have a lactose intolerance or are simply looking to eat healthier by cutting back on dairy in their diets. Products include the slices in American, cheddar, cheddar with jalapenos, mozzarella, pepper jack, provolone and Swiss flavors.
- GO Veggie Lactose Free & Soy Free (blue packaging) products contain casein, yet are lactose free, gluten-free, cholesterol free and have 0g of trans fat per serving. They contain no soy and are free of preservatives. GO Veggie! Lactose Free & Soy Free is available in slices, shreds and blocks in a variety of flavors. Products include the blocks in both cheddar and mozzarella flavors.
- GO Veggie! Dairy Free, Vegan (purple packaging) products are completely dairy free and vegan, officials say. They contain no casein. The Dairy Free, Vegan line is gluten-free, non-GMO and free of preservatives. GO Veggie! Dairy Free, Vegan is available in slices, shreds, blocks, grated topping and cream cheese in a variety of flavors. Products include the slices in American, cheddar, pepper jack, and mozzarella flavors, as well as the blocks in both cheddar and mozzarella flavors (coming soon).
