Nature’s Greens asked consumers to share how their families prepare and enjoy their greens with the Show Us Your HERITAGE Recipe Contest. With over 75 unique recipes entered into the contest, one winner will enjoy a trip for two to Charleston, South Carolina.
Eligible entries included recipes featuring any of the Nature’s Greens cooking greens: kale, collards, turnips and mustards. Recipes varied from appetizers and soups to main entrees and desserts. Six finalists were chosen based on the recipes’ visual appeal, taste, creativity and use of Nature’s Greens. The public vote was then cast, the recipes were cooked and judged and the winner was announced.
The winning recipe, Absolutely Amazing Appetizer – the Lattice Tart, was not only pastry-shop beautiful, but tastefully displayed the southern flavors of pork-spiked greens with minimum effort, say officials for the contest. “Using refrigerated pie crusts make this dish quite simple, and the already prepped Nature’s Greens are easy to cook to the perfect tenderness,” says winner Janice Elder, “warning – this appetizer will not last long!”
The recipe contest was promoted on-pack as well as on WP Rawl’s Facebook and Nature’s Greens’ Twitter. It was also promoted through sponsored posts by bloggers who encouraged their own fans to enter the contest by submitting their recipes via email to WP Rawl.
