The Better Chip is celebrating National Tortilla Chip day with two new flavors – Beet and Chipotle. Launching today, The Better Chip Beet chips and The Better Chip Chipotle chips will be available in the deli section of more than 10,000 grocery stores nationwide, company officials say.
Red, ripened jalapeno peppers are smoked over wood chips then crushed into whole grain corn masa to create the Chipotle flavor of The Better Chip Chipotle chip. The Better Chip Chipotle can be eaten straight from the bag or paired with a layered bean dip, cheese and salami or black bean salsa. The Better Chip Beet chips can be paired with herbed goat cheese, hummus or Greek yogurt dips.
“At The Better Chip, we wanted to create a great tasting tortilla chip in bold flavors that snackers can enjoy right out of the bag or with their favorite dips,” says Andrea Brule, vice president and general manager. “Beet and Chipotle stuck out as really powerful flavors that are on trend with the current dining scene, and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our favorite holiday than by releasing our two new flavors on National Tortilla Chip Day.”
Currently available in Jalapeno, Spinach & Kale, and Corn, The Better Chip is developed with snackers in mind using farm-fresh ingredients, company officials say. The new Beet and Chipotle flavors will replace current flavors Sweet Onions with White Cheddar and Red Pepper with Salsa Fresca, which will be retired in 2014. The Better Chip can be found in the deli section at grocery stores across the nation—rather than the chip aisle—right near the prepared dips and spreads. The Better Chip is vegan friendly, gluten-free, Non-GMO verified or undergoing Non- GMO verification.
