Seacore Seafood triumphed over hundreds of other applicants to win a 2013 Canada’s Best Managed Companies (Best Managed) award. This national award is sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC, National Post, Queen’s School of Business and MacKay CEO forums.
“Over the past 21 years, Canada’s Best Managed Companies program has recognized the most innovative and Best Managed Companies in Canada. We are delighted to celebrate the accomplishments of Seacore Seafood,” says John Hughes, National Leader of Canada’s Best Managed Companies and Managing Partner, Growth Enterprises, Deloitte.
Through its relationships and partnerships with vendors and customers around the globe, Seacore has become a leader in an industry that is predominately dominated by companies along the shores of North America’s oceans, say company officials, adding that being situated more than 1500 kms away from the nearest ocean is what truly makes the company’s story special.
Seacore capitalized on its inward and outward logistics in order to deliver its consumer brand, OceanPrime, from coast to coast. This year Seacore introduced its Housecut Certified frozen products, continued to grow its OceanPrime Market fresh, value added products and was a founding member in Sea Pact – a sustainable seafood alliance among the leading distributors in North America. Furthermore, the company made the corporate culture a better work environment for its employees by adding specific resources for them.
Established in 1993, the Canada’s Best Managed Companies is a national awards program, recognizing Canadian companies that have implemented world-class business practices and created value in innovative ways. Applications are reviewed by an independent judging panel that evaluates how companies address various business challenges, including new technologies, globalization, brand management, leadership, leveraging and developing core competencies, designing information systems and hiring the right talent to facilitate growth.
“Seacore is extremely proud to have requalified for the third year straight as a Best Managed company. This award is very prestigious and extremely rare especially in the seafood industry. We are very proud and humble to receive it. Hard work and dedication of the Seacore team has been recognized,” says Gerry Battaglia, CEO of Seacore Seafood.
2013 winners of the Canada’s Best Managed Companies award, along with the Gold Standard winners, Requalified and Platinum Club members will be honored at the annual Best Managed gala in Toronto on April 1, 2014. On the same date, the Best Managed symposium will address leading-edge business issues that are key to the success of today’s business leaders.
