After the positive results of last year's event – 24,800 certified visitors from 35 countries – Macfrut, an international exhibition of the fruit and vegetable sector, is expecting record-breaking attendance. The expo takes place in Cesena (Italy) from September 24-26. Countries and businesses that will exhibit at the show include Brazil, China, Dominican Republic, Tunisia, France, Egypt and Turkey, and new entries such as Mexico. Thanks to the intense activity carried out by the Foreign Department of Macfrut, many professional visitors will take part in the event, coming from all over the world, in particular from the Mediterranean basin: from Algeria to Tunisia and Morocco to Egypt. A key role will be played by businesses from Eastern Europe and in particular from the Balkans, and a selection of highly qualified Russian businesses of the fruit and vegetable sector will take part in the show in Cesena. Macfrut has opened a privileged channel with Australia and South Africa, that will be present in Cesena with official delegations which will be the eagerly awaited protagonists of bilateral meetings. “We are very satisfied of how registrations are proceeding,” says Domenico Scarpellini, president of Cesena Fiera. “This shows clearly that, despite the difficult period for the economy in many areas of the world, our sector is alive and our show is a reference point.” As usual, many conferences will take place at the show, providing for dialogue at international level and inspiration. In particular, Macfrut 2014 will anticipate the subjects that will be dealt with at Expo 2015 and will host an ad hoc conference on the need to “produce well for better food,” getting ready for the big event in Milan that will start in little less than twelve months.
