PBH Wraps Up Colors of Summer Contest
By Grocery Headquarters Staff
Produce for Better Health Foundation (PBH) wrapped up the Colors of Summer consumer contest this week on the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters Facebook page. A different color group of fruit and vegetables was highlighted each week during July with consumers submitting their favorite fruit or veggie recipe. A weekly random winner was chosen to receive a prize pack consisting of gift cards courtesy of Duda Farm Fresh Foods, prizes from Berry Breeze and Yonanas and packages of fruit and vegetables courtesy of Stemilt Growers and Domex Superfresh Growers. "The Colors of Summer contest on Facebook was a lot of fun for us and our followers, and it was wonderful to read about and see the creative dishes and recipes everyone came up with," says Elizabeth Pivonka, Ph.D., R.D., president and CEO of PBH. "We are planning another fun photo submission challenge in October to tie-in with Halloween that we know our Facebook fans are sure to love!" The contest was well-received by our fan-base on Facebook; 81 total entries generated 9,347 likes, 1,598 shares and a total reach of over 815,800. The contest also helped to increase the total fan base of the page by 13,439. The Fruits & Veggies—More Matters Facebook page provides tips, resources, recipes and other useful information to educate consumers as well as a platform for fans to share, like and post their fruit and vegetable related stories.
