The Midwest Produce Conference & Expo, a new trade event for the produce industry launched by The Packer, will come to Chicago from August 13-15, 2012 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers.
“We listened to the market, followed up with independent research and identified the need for a dedicated Midwest event,” says Shannon Shuman, publisher for The Packer, based in Lincolnshire, Ill. “We will bring together our expertise and industry partnerships to create a professional conference and exposition to serve the Midwest produce industry.”
Midwest Produce will provide a variety of networking and educational opportunities. The general sessions will feature industry-leading authorities, exclusive research and a panel of consumers giving insights into today’s shopping trends. A golf outing and optional tours, including the world class Chicago International Produce Market, will give attendees an opportunity to experience summertime in Chicago.
“This event is a natural fit with what The Packer does on a day-to-day basis,” says Greg Johnson, editor of The Packer. “Our goal is to create a cost-effective, face-to-face event that allows for an open exchange of ideas among all participants.”
A committee of nearly a dozen Midwest-based retailers, wholesalers and other produce executives is helping guide the events and topics.
