New Company Enlightens the Ice Cream Category

Enlightened Ice CreamENLIGHTENED is reinventing the ice cream category with what the company is calling “healthy” novelty bars.

Available in three flavors – Fudge, Coffee & Orange Cream – the ice cream is the solution to a simple problem, says founder and former personal trainer Michael Shoretz. “For the label reading, health-conscious consumer, the best options in the ice cream aisle are just less bad.”

ENLIGHTENED is straying away from the “better-for-you” image because, as company officials say, “it is healthy for you.” The bars contain just 70 calories, 8 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber, only 2 grams of fat, only 3 grams of sugar naturally occurring from milk and 20% of the RDA for Calcium per bar. They contain no artificial sweeteners, colors or ingredients, are hormone-free – made with rBST-free milk – gluten-free and low carb.

ENLIGHTENED Ice Cream’s unique nutritional profiles make it an ideal choice for health and weight conscious consumers, fitness enthusiasts, vegetarians, diabetics and bariatric patients, say company officials.

The bars are scored by NuVal, a nutritional scoring system (based on a 1 -100 scale) developed by a panel of nutrition and medical experts and used by thousands of supermarkets across the country. The average score among ice cream novelties is a 9; ENLIGHTENED is a leader in the category with an impressive score of 81.
