Organic? Caramel? Nuts? Lake Champlain Chocolates Brings It All to Expo

Bar Stack ImageLake Champlain Chocolates(LCC) has refreshed its Signature line of chocolate bars with new packaging and two new dark chocolate bars. The new look features artistic designs that draw inspiration from the natural beauty of Vermont. The refreshed portfolio now includes the new Dark Chocolate Maple Caramel and Dark Chocolate Caramel bars.

“These bars are everyday favorites that set a new standard for taste because of the quality of their ingredients,” says Catherine Wisloski, director of marketing. “And the fresh, new design reinforces this message—our connection to our land, our farmer partners and our artisanal approach to each recipe.”

The art on the wrapper reflects the local and global aspects of LCC’s flagship product line, company officials say. A hand-drawn sun and a mountain represent the native Vermont landscape, while an arching cacao tree celebrates LCC’s cocoa-farming partners, officials add.

The Dark Chocolate Caramel bar seeks a balance between the sweetness of creamy caramel and the bittersweet flavors of dark chocolate. The Maple Caramel Bar features the flavors of brown spice and is sweetened with pure Vermont maple syrup. In addition to the two new caramel offerings, the Milk Chocolate Triple Nut bar was updated with a touch of salt to better meet the consumer demand for salted chocolate, officials add.

The new bars and packaging, which will debut at Expo West, are not the only new innovations LCC plans to introduce. The company will also debut its new organic dark chocolate bars at the show. Natural Products Expo West will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center in California from March 7-9.

Organic Dark Chocolate“There has been explosive growth in dark chocolate, especially where indulgence meets better-for-you ingredients,” says Wisloski. “The market is also seeing continued cravings for salty sweet flavor combinations. So, we developed these new bars with tempting flavors, organic ingredients and snack-worthy crunch and salt in Fair For Life-certified, high-cocoa content dark chocolate.”

A Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter and Dark Chocolate Toffee and Almond Crunch satisfy the need for a salty-sweet snack. For consumers seeking high cocoa content bars, Lake Champlain Chocolates has introduced the 72% cocoa content Almonds and Sea Salt and the 72% Dark Chocolate bars.

“Chocolate is no longer just a special occasion at the end of the meal,” Wisloski adds. “High cocoa content, nut inclusions and the tang of salt make these bars an appealing choice for the organic chocolate consumer who wants to enhance their health, explore new flavors and indulge or reward themselves throughout the day.”

The new bars, along with the full organic line, which now boasts 14 classic and unique flavors, can be tasted at Expo West. The four new bars feature a suggested retail price of $4.99 and will be available for wholesale distribution and online retail in July 2014.

LCC will showcase the new Signature Bar packaging and new bar flavors, the organic dark chocolate bars and additional gourmet chocolates, at Booth #5254 at Natural Products Expo West. All Lake Champlain Chocolates’ products are Kosher certified, free of preservatives, additives and high-fructose corn syrup.
