FreshDirect Welcomes Jodi Kahn as Chief Consumer Officer

FreshDirect announced that it has named Jodi Kahn Chief Consumer Officer. In this role, Kahn will be charged with transforming all consumer-facing marketing, including shopping experience and digital/mobile development, driving new marketing platforms and enhancing the company’s insights and database platforms.

“Jodi has an extensive background of not only building brands, but reinvigorating and defining them with powerful insights-based marketing and consumer-focused initiatives,” says Jason Ackerman, CEO and co-founder of FreshDirect. “She has also demonstrated a great ability to cultivate and lead teams across large-scale businesses.”

Most recently, Kahn served as president of iVillage, the largest online content community for women at NBCUniversal, where she reengineered the business, introduced new revenue/licensing models and transformed the organization’s DNA. Her team developed a powerful insight tool that allowed iVillage to tap into the passions and challenges of everyday women, and ignited the popular “Community Challenges” program to galvanize women around health, education and finance issues. These initiatives captured national recognition including a deep partnership with the First Lady and the White House. Under Kahn’s leadership, iVillage became a stage for influencers and brands to engage with women around important life issues.

Previously, Kahn was president, global digital media, for Readers Digest Association where she oversaw, executed a strategy for digital expansion, and developed a global licensing business. Prior to that, Kahn spent 16 years at Time where she held a number of senior level positions in consumer marketing and business management. She is a board member of, Edible Media, Shining Hope for Communities, and the Paley Center Women’s Advisory Council.

Kahn has added three senior marketing executives as she begins to build out the newly re-branded Consumer Group (formerly the Marketing Group) with social, creative, communications and direct marketing talent: Lisa Kolodny, vice president, brand and communications; Alison Ehrmann, vice president, consumer marketing; and Amanda Cortese Vogel, senior director, public relations.
