Chicken of the Sea Donates One Million Meals to Feeding America

To help punctuate a Centennial year during which it donated $1 million in Pay it Forward awards to charitable organizations nationwide, Chicken of the Sea is partnering with Feeding America to donate 1 million meals to the Chicago-based hunger relief organization. Chicken of the Sea’s anniversary gift to Feeding America is a continuation of the brand’s ongoing relationship with the nationwide network of food banks. In honor of its 100th anniversary in 2014, the brand presented monetary Gratitude Awards to Feeding America network member food banks in Orlando, Cincinnati and elsewhere as part of the larger 100 Years of Good Centennial Celebration and accompanying our nationwide Great American Gratitude Tour, say company officials. “We can’t think of a better way to cap Chicken of the Sea’s Centennial Celebration than with a donation of one million meals to Feeding America,” says Chicken of the Sea COO David Roszmann. “While we greatly enjoyed spending our 100th birthday giving out Gratitude Awards in the spirit of Pay it Forward, we wanted to wrap up the celebration with something especially significant. This donation to Feeding America ensures that the spirit of giving, which Chicken of the Sea has embraced for 100 years, will surely carry on,” adds Roszmann. To help thank Americans for making it a mealtime staple since 1914, San Diego-based Chicken of the Sea donated Gratitude Awards totaling $1 million to 100 different nonprofits, charities, grassroots organizations and individuals focused on doing good in their communities. “Feeding America is delighted to see Chicken of the Sea’s commendable Centennial celebration extended further with this donation of one million meals to help provide support and resources to the clients Feeding America serves,” says Ian Hunter, director, new partnerships at Feeding America.
